The Summit County Department of Job & Family Services (SCDJFS), under the direction of Executive Russ Pry, is excited to announce that the 2016 Summer Youth Employment Program recruitment is under way. Our program partners Akron Urban League & Tri-County JOG are recruiting both youth participants and employer work sites now.
This year the following details are announced & will be expanded upon as both youth and host work sites get on board with the program:
- Summer work assignments will begin June 13, 2016 and conclude August 20, 2016
- Youth participants will be allowed to work an average of 25 hours weekly not to exceed 50 hours per two week pay period
- All payroll matters will be administered by a county-contracted payroll service that will take responsibility for youth pay, tax issues, and assume liability in cases of injury on the job
Both youth employees and host work sites for this summer are sought to help make this year’s program a success. Interested youth are encouraged to visit our website to learn more and register online today: https://www.summitomj.org/SYE
More information on registering is available on the attached flyer – all are welcome to reproduce and distribute this item widely.
After registering, individuals will be contacted by a Summer Youth Program representative so that the formal application can be completed and eligibility determined. Other pre-employment requirements such as mandatory job skills training must be completed before summer work may begin.
Organizations interested in serving as work sites are encouraged to visit the SYE Employers website to learn more: https://www.summitomj.org/SYE/Employers
Check back on both websites often as additional details will be posted in the coming days & weeks. Thank you for your interest in this valuable program!
