Marlanea Franklin is the STEAM Educator who will be teaching science and math to 3rd through 8th graders as part of the Akron Urban League after school STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Program. The STEAM program will utilize small and whole group creative lesson plans using a curriculum combination from Akron Public Schools, NASA and Zspace materials focusing on math and science while integrating technology and art.
Dr. Martin Luther King once stated, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” Marlanea believes that being able to allow the students to explore knowledge through STEAM education, further prepares them for their already bright future.
Marlanea holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The University of Akron in Multidisciplinary Studies, with a primary focus in Psychology and a secondary focus in Human Development.
