Assisting in Self-Sufficiency 

Akron Urban League’s Career Pathways Program is a long-term plan to assist individuals in maintaining self-sufficiency through case management services which will allow them to overcome all obstacles and barriers that are preventing them from being self-sufficient.


Employer Services: which involves assisting clients gaining meaningful employment; job placement activities; employer mock interviews; resume writing; and preparing for work for success; and job shadowing.  Moreover, develop strong relationships with employers to assure training is market-driven and that participants have the skills needed to succeed on the job.

Classroom Training: where clients complete a Career Development assessment which helps determine what field they should work based on their interests, skills, and talents. A personality test to find out more about who they are and what their strengths are. A Competency test to determine how competent they will be in a career; which includes job readiness training; computer training; and financial literacy. 

Case Management Services: and referral services during the duration of the time enrolled in the program, which includes a one year follow up service from the date gaining employment, this will help eliminate services. This is a one-on-one service for the Case Manager to get to know the client and to assist them with his or her barriers.

  • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm 
  • 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
