Help us stand up to racial inequity today!

Jun 09, 2020

Dear Friends,

Last week, Urban League Leaders across the country in a response to the civil unrest sweeping the nation declared:  We are sickened and appalled by the inhumanity we have witnessed in the recent deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and Ahmaud Arbery.

As you know, the Akron Urban League is committed to racial justice, so we share the heartbreak and anguish from protestors of the communities where uprisings have turned violent and we have been proud to march beside you during protests and fight for our community in the Greater Akron Area.

As the impact of these injustices continues to overwhelm the Black community, the system continues to fail us with unequal and insufficient action. That is why we need your urgent support today.

We at the Akron Urban League join with Urban League's around the country and stand with many of our local officials, leaders, businesses and neighbors, seeking to declare racism as a Public Health Crisis. Social justice and racial equality are of paramount importance, because it directly impacts the communities we serve in all areas of their lives; employment, housing, education, small business development, transportation and access to many other important supportive services.

Friends, we are calling on dedicated supporters like you to help us keep fighting for you and your loved ones. Your gift today will help fight against the devastating impact of racial injustice, ensuring that fellow Black Americans can receive the support they need.

We need to stand together now and not continue to allow our Black communities to suffer.

Yours in the movement,

Teresa R. LeGrair
