LaQuinta Sojourner is a Business Counselor for the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) at the Akron Urban League. LaQuinta’s history with the Akron Urban League began in the early 2000s when she became a Case Manager for the Schools In Program. During this initial 5-year period of service, she developed a drive and appreciation for building programs from the ground up. This interest and her love for assisting others have drawn her into various jobs along her career path. She worked at Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) for nine years, first as a Certification Specialist and later promoted to the Housing Resource Specialist. Her authentic love for service could also be seen as she briefly worked as a flight attendant. LaQuinta attended The University of Akron, where she studied Community Services Technology and Social Work.
Throughout her journey, one thing that has remained consistent is that LaQuinta is a problem solver—dedicated to the prosperity of others. Now, as an Urban Leaguer once again, she’s helping minority-owned businesses thrive and prosper. As a former business owner, she has the knowledge and experience to aid clients who need support.
Outside of work, LaQuinta enjoys traveling and being near large bodies of water. She’s a family woman who loves spending time with her three children and passing on the knowledge she has learned from her life experiences to them.
