PROGRAM ADVOCATE


Alice Samuels is a Program Advocate with the Summit County NEXT Initiative at the Akron Urban League and has been with the organization since July 2002. She has extensive experience working with youth and workforce development programs through various educational and employment opportunities.

In her current role, Alice enjoys and appreciates the opportunity to empower consumers and families by providing access to internal and external services and resources available through Akron Urban League, as well as the community-at-large,  including housing, childcare, counseling, mental health, food, and clothing.  Alice is passionate about her investment to help today’s families become leaders for tomorrow by encouraging each client to know that they are valuable and they can make a difference.

Alice holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Alcorn State University.  During her tenure with Akron Urban League, she has received numerous accolades, including a certificate of completion of training from ONLC Training Center in Microsoft Office December 2021; a graduate of the Neighborhood Leadership Institute of Summit County in 2018; a Certified Facilitator for the Emotional Intelligence Program in 2017; Child & Family Leadership Exchange in 2014.   Presently, her civic duties include serving as President of Friends of Maple Valley Library and being an active member of the Akron Summit County Public Library.  Alice makes it a point to enjoy each spending time reading and experiencing new endeavors. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and in the beautiful scenery of the great outdoors.
