Misty Rogers, MA, CBA
Misty E. Rogers, has been employed with the Akron Urban League since July of 2002. Ms. Rogers currently serves in the role of Senior Business Advisor for the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). Her primary responsibilities include working with MBAC members to start, grow and expand their current businesses. Ms. Rogers provides business counseling related to business structure registration, securing a EIN, procurement opportunities, MBE/EDGE Certifications, business loans and any many other needs related to businesses. She has a passion for serving others and is dedicated to economic inclusion of businesses in the Akron MBAC Region, which includes Summit County and eight other surrounding counties.
For more than 17 years, Ms. Rogers has held several positions within the organization. Misty previously served as an Adult and Youth GED Instructor, Director of the Summer Enrichment Day Camp, Summer Enrichment Day Camp Dance Instructor, Coordinator for Assisting Children in Transition (ACT) Program, Youth Development College Prep Program and Ice House facilitator. She most recently held the position of EEO/Compliance and Monitoring Officer Assistant. Misty holds various community affiliations, including being a graduate of the Child and Family Leadership Exchange Class XIV, Akron Reads, Coalition for a Safe Community member, Child and Family Awareness Month Steering Committee participant, and 2011 National Urban League Presenter at the Whitney M. Young Leadership Development Training.
As a lifelong learner and advocate of education, Ms. Rogers is currently attending Kent State University in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA), where she has maintained a 4.0 GPA, and is anticipating the conferral of her degree to occur during the summer of 2019. Additionally, Misty is currently pursuing Certified Business Advisor (CBA) Certification, which she will complete in May 2019. Misty graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science/Criminal Justice, and holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice Technology, with a Minor in American Politics.
Misty E. Rogers, an Akron, OH resident is the daughter of the late Marilyn E. Rivers, who was a phenomenal woman. Misty has three siblings and is a proud parent of two boys, Earl and Montell. She has also been blessed with two grandchildren, Ebony and Earl. Her interests are reading, mentoring, coaching cheerleading, and motivating individuals to achieve their fullest potential!
