Barrier Removal

The Akron Urban League offers comprehensive barrier removal programs to help residents overcome challenges in employment, housing, and legal history, such as record sealing, expungement, and driver's license restoration.

We host recurring reentry and expungement clinics in partnership with groups like the Ohio Justice Bus.

Record Sealing & Expungement: 

Assistance in clearing criminal records to eliminate barriers to employment and housing.

Driver's License Restoration: 

Free clinics and legal counsel aimed at clearing suspension barriers.

CQE Applications: 

Help with applying for a Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE).

Workforce Support: 

Ancillary services, one-on-one career coaching, and a career clothing closet for job seekers facing hardships.
