Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential building block in the Akron Urban League’s commitment to render social services in Summit County.

Volunteering your time at the Akron Urban League is a gift in many ways!
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, a variety of opportunities exist.  Some examples include:

  • Greeter and Tour Guide – greet guests and groups;  provide general overview of the agency and its programs.
  • General Office Work Assistant – filing, photocopying, stuffing envelopes, etc.
  • Special Event Assistant – may assist with event set-up and tear-down; monitor AUL information table; assist visitors and guests; serve as host/hostess.
  • Tutoring – in subject areas such as math and reading; individual or small group basis
  • Data Entry – input data accurately using database and spreadsheets software.  Should be able to type 35 wpm.

Your volunteer orientation begins with a tour of the Urban League.
Use this opportunity to select the type of project that fits your schedule or abilities and use the tour as an educational tool for your students, social or civic groups, church or youth organization.
