Our Team

Brandi is a lifetime resident of Akron. She attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Buchtel High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Akron and began her educational career as a high school English teacher. After receiving her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Akron, she became an assistant principal and later, a building principal, all with the Akron Public Schools. Brandi also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Akron, teaching undergraduate education majors. She also holds a Superintendent license, Instructional Technology and a K-12 Reading endorsement.

Brandi brings 22 years of educational experience to the Akron Urban League. The essence of her philosophy is to create a unique and transformative approach to schools and programming. She utilizes data driven decision making as well as instituting diversity, equity and inclusion in all that she does. Brandi’s work experience has allowed her to be the recipient of various awards such as Cleveland Magazine’s Most Interesting People Award; Ohio Black Women’s Leadership Caucus Outstanding Community Leader Award; Mother’s On a Mission Drum Major Award for Outstanding Educational Leadership; University of Virginia Turnaround School Principal Achievement; and 30 for the Future Award.

Brandi is extremely active in the community. She is the Outreach Coordinator and a Trustee at New Hope Baptist Church. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®. Brandi also coordinates and participates in various community and fundraising events that includes Mitzvah Day, Interfaith Justice Series, thanksGIVING Basket Donations, Purple for a Cause for the Alzheimer’s Association and Brown Bag Blessings for the Haven of Rest. Brandi enjoys watching football, traveling and spending time with family. She is supported by her loving mother, Linda, and her nephew, Trey. She also has two guardian angels forever in her presence, her father, Eddie, and her brother, Antoine.
