Our Team

Joy Gadson is a Business Counselor with the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) at the Akron Urban League. Joining the organization in 2020, her primary responsibilities include working with MBAC clients to start, grow, and expand their businesses. Joy provides business counseling related to business structure registration, securing an EIN, procurement opportunities, MBE/EDGE Certifications, business loans, and other business needs.

Before joining the Akron Urban League, Joy spent 15 years working in the transportation industry where she held several leadership roles and positions related to people development, mentoring, and coaching.

Joy graduated from Walsh University with a B.A. in Organizational Development and Leadership and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Rutgers University. She lives in Akron, OH and is the mother of three grown children.
