Joy Gadson began employment with the Akron Urban League in November 2020 as a Business Counselor with the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC). Her primary responsibilities include working with MBAC members to start, grow, and expand their current businesses. Ms. Gadson provides business counseling related to business structure registration, securing an EIN, procurement opportunities, MBE/EDGE Certifications, business loans, and other business needs.
Before joining the Akron Urban League, Ms. Gadson spent 15 years working in the transportation industry, where she held several leadership roles and positions related to people development, mentoring, and coaching.
Ms. Gadson graduated from Walsh University with a B.A. in Organizational Development and Leadership and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Rutgers University. Ms. Gadson lives in Akron, OH, and is the mother of three grown children.
